I posted about this last October and haven’t heard anything about the project status in months.

Wireless Oakland, a first-of-its-kind project to blanket all 910 square miles of the county with a wireless signal, remains months behind schedule nearly a year and half after the project was announced by County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

Originally the pilot towns — Troy, Birmingham, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Pontiac and Wixom — were to be online by mid-March. In February, MichTel officials said the system would be running by June. But only small sections of Wixom and Pontiac are receiving the service.

Apparently MichTel, the company contracted by the county is blaming some engineering hurdles they had to jump.

Huh? They better get jumping, the timeline said the end of 2007 for the entire county to be covered, and as of this moment approximately 3000sq ft are all that’s covered…

I stumbled across an initiative in the county I live in to develop a county wide wireless internet blanket, and here’s the kicker; it’s free.
It’s still in the development/feasability testing phase, but this might be one of the coolest things I’ve heard coming out of Detroit in a long time.
Apparently the state legislature is getting involved on the urging of the large telco’s trying to block the move. Here’s to hoping I can drop my ComSUCKtastic cable soon…

I was retarded and let my domains lapse for a day. This is what I get for changing the email reported in a WHOIS lookup to try and lighten my spam load, only to have that email adress stop being forwarded.

Who decided to make all cellphones geigh flip-phones now? I hate flip phones. All I want is a cool looking NON-flip phone with a camera & bluetooth. But nooooooOOOOooooo, everything has been ‘bling-ized’ beyond recognition into some honestly ugly-ass beast.

I just checked my voicemail after I shut my phone off last night and had a fun message. Apparently my phone called a friend of mine while it was in my pocket last night. Mike then had a 30 second conversation with my pants pocket. Hopefully it didnt say anything too embarassing…

This is absolutely insane. Is there a global conciousness we all tap into with some part of our brain? Is this ultimately a holding ground for all of the memories of humanity, hence deja vu & reincarnation beliefs? I dont know but it’s facinating.
