City life provides a multitude of textures for me to take in on my daily dog walk. Now that I have a multi-megapixel camera that goes with me everywhere I thought it might be fun to start documenting some of the more interesting things I come across.

Howdy – It’s Been a While…

Howdy. At least that’s apparently what they say down here as a standard greeting in the South…

It’s been a while for posting. Yup, it is what it is. I won’t wax poetic about how busy we’ve been and how lazy I’ve been, etc, etc.

What’s done is done, but the good news is I’m going to begin using this site again to keep friends, relatives, acquaintances, and internet stalkers abreast with our new down south Dallas adventures, so I hope yall** stick around for the ride.

** for the record C and I refuse to speak southern.

New Construction

In an effort to make the basement a more useful & livable space, I’ve been trying to do various projects and little bits here and there as time allows. So I built a wall. Not only does it have a cool opening the perfect size for beer distribution, but we now have a hidden storage area under the stairs, and DOUBLE the amount of usable power outlets!

Shoe Heaven

We’ve had this oddly shaped storage area at the top of our stairs under-utilized since we moved in. C has a lot of shoes. What better way to merge the two problems into one solution, than a giant walk in shoe room! $60 and a Sunday afternoon later, here’s the results.

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Saw something similar on television a few weekends ago and this sounded good. I can’t for the life of me remember exact measurements, but this recipe easy enough to just whip up on the fly…

  • Nice cut of Pork Tenderloin
  • Olive Oil
  • Lemon Zest
  • Fresh Thyme & Rosemary
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Salt & Pepper
  1. In a dish mix olive oil, lemon zest, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper to desired consistency and taste. Place meat & marinade into plastic ziploc coating meat liberally, place in the fridge for a few hours.
  2. Preheat cash iron skillet in the oven at 400F. Place tenderloin fat side up in the pan. Cook for 45min or until internal temperature is approximately 160F. Allow meat to rest for 10mins before slicing.
  3. While the meat is cooking, slice sweet potatoes into desired french fry sized slices. Place in a bowl and toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Cook sweet potato fries for 30min, flipping after 15mins.

I’m introducing a new semi-regular blog feature. Every day is a struggle to think of something to write about. Most days I have plenty of 1 or 2 liners that work, but don’t necessarily have enough content to make it worth it. So instead of tossing those ideas out, I’ll toss them on the internets. Win/win if you ask me…
