Underworld – dubnobasswithmyheadman

dubnobasswithmyheadman

20 years ago today one of the greatest electronic albums of all time was released to the world. With its fusion of hypnotic techno and Karl Hyde’s unique abstract spoken word hands down this musically one of my most influential albums. Few can be said to have had such a significant impact on my consciousnesses, to be so deeply ingrained in my being as dubnobasswithmyheadman.

Perusing the track list you’ll find an emotionally immersive mosaic of sound from the classic Cowgirl to the spaced out futuristic crooning of Dirty Epic and Mmmm Skyscraper I Love You. And for those really paying attention the uplifting and climactic Rez offers a glimpse of even more magic to come for the group…

The Box

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
–Arthur C Clark

Hard to believe this was 100% real using only projectors and carefully choreographed human/robotic movement…

Further Reduction

The Look

Monty has been much more active & cognizant since the last step down of Prednisone, so overall October has been a good month. Today’s checkup included another Cytosar injection and a full blood work up in addition to the standard CBC, as well as a further reduction in Prednisone to 5mg/day. The test results showed improvement in liver health with the “slightly elevated” ALT/AST numbers coming down again over the last two months, so the supplement seems to be helping. He’s been eating a lot more lately which means several walks a day around town, and we’re now at the Prednisone dose threshold where we should start to see the negative side effects fade away for good.

Sonder

I keep stumbling on things that take my mind elsewhere, back to a certain someplace out on the playa. To me this describes one of those feelings I experienced but fell utterly short on articulating. The concept itself is poignant, humbling, and thought provoking, so at least I have a name for it now…

sonder noun
The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
